Occupational Therapy at Lynden Hill Clinic
It is the treatment of physical and psychiatric conditions through specific activities in order to help people reach their maximum level of function and independence in all aspects of daily life.
What Does Occupational Therapy Involve?
Patients at Lynden Hill Clinic will be assessed for underlying motor, cognitive, perceptual and interpersonal skills as well as task performance and valued roles, after illness or disability.
Depending on a person’s current potential for recovery impairments, the Occupational Therapist facilitates task performance by improving relevant performance skills. Developing and teaching compensatory strategies to overcome lost performance skills, or combining both of these strategies, therefore improving their quality of life.
Following an initial assessment on admission, sessions focus on ensuring that patients regain their independence and confidence in returning home. Care packages are arranged to ensure that patients can be discharged home safely.
